What we do


During the three years of the RecoLATIN project, a series of training activities are organised focusing on the main challenges and issues related to the recognition of foreign qualifications and the internationalisation of higher education.

The project partners work together to foster access to official and comprehensive information on different Higher Education systems, encourage the application of the Lisbon Recognition Convention and the Bologna Mobility Tools, implement good practice and methodologies for smooth recognition of foreign qualifications.

Experts from the French, Italian and Norwegian ENIC-NARICs train the partner Universities’ staff from Mexico, Panama and Uruguay and and representatives from the respective Ministries of Higher Education. These trainings are organised on-line and face-to-face.

The project activities also include internships and study visits at the partner ENIC-NARIC centres in France, Italy and Norway and at the partner universities Università di Bologna, Université Paris Descartes and Universitetet i Stavanger.

Peer review activity on Quality Assurance in Recognition procedures

In March 2019, university staff participated in the activities of WP6 that consisted in three peer-review visits focused on the topic of quality assurance in recognition procedures carried out by those higher education institutions who are partners of the RecoLATIN project.

At the beginning of the month, the Mexican colleagues from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Universidad de Monterrey together with the representatives of CIEP visited the Universidad de la República and the Universidad Católica del Uruguay. From the 11thto the 15thof March, the representatives from Università di Bologna, CIMEA and Universidad de Panamá visited the Mexican universities, UNAM and UDEM. Finally, the Universidad de Panamá received NOKUT’s representatives together with the Universidad de la República and the Universidad Católica del Uruguay representatives.

Monitoring visit at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay

In June 2018 university staff from the Università di Bologna, the Université Paris Descartes and the University of Stavanger carried out a monitoring visit at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay to share knowledge on mobility tools and platforms and to discuss the readability of the qualifications issued by the university. In addition to this, the participating university staff shared experience on double and joint degrees and programmes.

Monitoring visit at the Universidad de la República, Uruguay

Experts from the Università di Bologna, the Université Paris Descartes and the University of Stavanger visited the colleagues from the Universidad de la República in Montevideo in June 2018 to share experience on the readability of the qualifications issued by all the participating universities and to discuss the development of these to facilitate their recognition abroad. A cascade training was organized to involve university staff and registrars from different faculties in this capacity building activity.

Monitoring_MEC

Monitoring visit at the Ministerio de Educación y Cultura – MEC, Uruguay

In June 2018 the experts from ENIC-NARIC network visited the Ministerio de Educación y Cultura – MEC in Montevideo. During the monitoring visit the officials of the Ministry showed and explained the activities carried out by each section of the institution and gave presentations on the Uruguayan system and its specificities that were discussed with the partners from the ENIC-NARIC centres according to the developments of the project.

Face-to-face training in Paris for University staff

Unversity staff from four of the partner Universities participated in a face-to-face training on diploma and credit recognition issues, credential evaluation procedures and joint programmes in November/December 2017 at the Université Paris Descartes. Experts from the French and Italian ENIC-NARIC centres CIEP and CIMEA, as well as trainers from the Università di Bologna and Université Paris Descartes discussed with the participants the contents of the on-line training course that the participants had successfully completed.

Study visits at Università di Bologna, University of Stavanger and Université Paris Descartes

Representative from the trained staff of the Universidad Autónoma de México and the Universidad de Monterrey from Mexico, and the Universidad de la República and the Universidad Católica de Uruguay from Uruguay went to three different study visits to deepen their knowledge in Internationalisation Strategies, recognition of qualifications, Joint Programmes and Quality Assurance aspects at the Universities of Bologna, Stavanger and Paris Descartes.

Online training on higher education systems, and recognition procedures

Around 80 participants from the Universidad Autónoma de México and the Universidad de Monterrey from Mexico, the Universidad de Panamá and the Universidad de Chiriquí from Panama, and the Universidad de la República and the Universidad Católica de Uruguay from Uruguay have in October and November 2017 successfully participated in a six-weeks online training course on higher education systems, institutions and qualifications, recognition procedures and Joint Programmes.

Experts from the French, Italian and Norwegian ENIC-NARIC centres CIEP, CIMEA and NOKUT discussed with the participants the contents of the on-line training course that the participants had successfully completed.

Internship in the French, Italian and Norwegian ENIC-NARIC centres

In September 2017 three government officials from each of the Latin American partner Ministries came to the TAICEP conference that was held in Rome this year. After this week of exchange, discussions and networking the participants were welcomed in Paris, Oslo and Rome to spend a one-week internship period in the ENIC-NARIC centres of France, Italy and Norway to deepen their knowledge of recognition procedures, discuss about credential evaluation and the Bologna Process and learn about European Higher Education systems.

Face-to-face training in Mexico

After the successful completion of an on-line training course, an intensive face-to-face training week for Goverment officials in the Dirección General de Acreditación Incorporación y Revalidación – DGAIR (SEP) in Mexico City was taking place in August 2017. Diploma recognition issues, credential evaluation procedures and national regulations were discussed with the trainers from the French, Italian and Norwegian ENIC-NARIC centres CIEP, CIMEA and NOKUT.

Face-to-face training in Panama

Goverment officials from the Panamanian Ministerio de Educación – MEDUCA  participated in a face-to-face training week on diploma recognition issues, credential evaluation procedures and national regulations in July/August 2017 in Panama City. Experts from the French, Italian and Norwegian ENIC-NARIC centres CIEP, CIMEA and NOKUT discussed with the participants the contents of the on-line training course that the participants had successfully completed.
